About Barbara Lee:
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 15 years of experience helping others with life’s challenges. During my career, I have provided therapy with many different clients, each with their own unique stories, struggles, and perspectives. This diversity, in turn, has enriched my practice and deepened my commitment to understanding each person’s individual situation.
A core principle in my practice is the importance of truly listening. I create a space where clients feel seen, heard, and understood. I believe that each person’s challenges are shaped by their own personal history, environment, values, and culture. Furthermore, I value cultural humility and sensitivity. I understand that beliefs, customs, and traditions are an important part of our identity. This awareness helps me to build rapport and trust. It creates a sense of safety where clients can feel comfortable being open and make meaningful progress.
We find therapy to help with navigating a life transition, coping with trauma, managing stress, or seeking personal growth. My goal is to offer guidance that fits their needs and aspirations. Through this process, I have seen the power of resilience, self-discovery, and growth. Consequently, I am honored to support individuals on their journeys toward healing and fulfillment.
Beyond Therapy
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, I have had the privilege of experiencing different parts of the country throughout my journey. I completed my undergraduate studies in my home state, later moving to New Orleans for my Master’s Degree in Social Work. My time there gave me a strong foundation in social work theory and practice.
In 2003, I moved to Houston with my family. This decision marked the beginning of a new chapter in both my personal and professional life. In particular, Houston’s vibrant and diverse community provided me with the opportunity to expand my career, gain valuable clinical experience, and refine my approach to therapy. It was during this time that I obtained my clinical license. This milestone has allowed me to pursue my passion in supporting others navigate their personal struggles in a direct and impactful way.
Throughout this journey, I’ve maintained a deep commitment to learning and evolving as a clinician. In fact, my experiences in different cities, coupled with my education and clinical work, have shaped my holistic approach to therapy, allowing me to offer tailored support to clients from diverse backgrounds. Ultimately, I am grateful for the path I’ve walked. Because of it, I have the opportunity to continue helping others on their own journeys toward well-being.

Barbara’s Approach to Counseling
I am deeply passionate about helping people “connect the dots” in their lives, this then empowers them to view their current situation through a fresh, insightful lens. In therapy, it’s common to feel stuck or uncertain. My goal is to create a space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions with clarity and confidence. In this nurturing, non-judgmental environment, you will have the space to explore new insights and strategies, which will help you move forward.
I use an integrative approach to therapy, blending techniques from different evidence-based mental health practices to create a treatment plan that is uniquely tailored to you. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, I focus on providing you with the tools and insights that resonate with your life, so you can move forward in a meaningful way.
My communication style is compassionate yet direct—I’m here to listen with empathy and to speak honestly. I understand that growth can be challenging, and sometimes it takes confronting uncomfortable truths to move forward. However, I am committed to walking alongside you in the journey, offering support as you explore new perspectives and make positive changes.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your mental health journey, I am excited to partner with you. Together we can uncover your strengths, address the challenges you face, and develop a path forward that works best for you. With this in mind, I look forward to meeting with you and beginning this transformative process together!
