About Heather Dunn:
In high school, I discovered my passion for helping others; as a result, I found fulfillment in being a source of support. This experience, consequently, ignited a career where I could make a tangible difference in the lives of others. It ultimately set the foundation for my journey into the counseling field.
One of the earliest opportunities I had was working in an adolescent residential treatment center. Initially, as a brand new therapist, working in this environment allowed me to develop my therapeutic skills. It deepened my understanding of the importance of creating a safe and nurturing space for healing.
From there, I subsequently transitioned to a domestic violence crisis center and shelter. Unfortunately, many of the people I worked with had faced significant childhood and ongoing trauma. As a result, I offered crisis intervention and trauma healing as they navigated their challenging journey. Overall, it was an eye-opening experience that ultimately reinforced the importance of advocacy, empathy, and trauma-informed care.
As a result, working in private practice allows me to combine everything I’ve learned throughout my career. Consequently, I can apply it in a more individualized, client-centered approach. In particular, my therapy is tailored to the unique needs of each individual, which helps them explore and overcome their challenges. My specialty lies in using EMDR and Self-State Interventions, enabling survivors to heal from their past.
Beyond Therapy
In 2005, my family and I made the decision to move to Pearland, Texas, from Colorado in order to be closer to our extended family. We couldn’t be happier with the community we chose! In fact feeling connected to others is important for our emotional well-being.
Along with family and community, my husband, two kids, and I also cherish the time we spend outdoors. We all love being active and exploring the world around us. Whether it’s camping under the stars, biking through scenic trails, or exploring cultures in distant lands, it’s an important part of who we are.

My Approach to Counseling
Above all else, you are the expert of your own life. As such, I firmly believe that the answers you seek already exist within you. As your therapist, I will help you uncover those answers while supporting you in the challenges you’re facing. During our work, I will work alongside you to ensure that the therapy process is focused on your unique experiences and needs. If you’re dealing with current emotional struggles, unresolved issues from the past, or striving to create a more fulfilling future, I am here to support you with compassion, insight, and understanding.
One of the core values I hold in my practice is the importance of diversity. With this in mind, I understand that each person brings their own unique cultural, social, and personal background to therapy. Therefore, all are welcome here, and you will be accepted for who you are, no matter your background, identity, or life story. This is why creating an inclusive, non-judgmental space is so important—one where you can express yourself freely, without fear of discrimination or bias. This commitment to inclusivity is woven into every aspect of my practice. As a result, you will feel seen, heard, and valued throughout our work together.
As a result of this strong foundation, we will pave the way for you to thrive—emotionally, mentally, and personally.
